1. Introduction

Hijopet is a pet photography app. We take privacy seriously: most data never leaves your device, and we never sell or share personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.

This policy applies to the Hijopet mobile app (Android) and the website at hijopet.com.

2. What We Collect

Stored only on your device (never sent to us)

Photos and videos you take with Hijopet, stored in your device gallery under Pictures/Hijopet/.
Pet profiles: name, species, breed, birth month and day (no year required).
Your preferred attention sound per pet.
Custom sounds you record (maximum 5 seconds).
App settings and preferences.

Accounts and sign-in

Hijopet has no accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect your email, password, or payment details — the app works without registering, and everything stays on your device.

Anonymous technical data

Update checks: the app sends only your current build number and language setting (?current_build=33&locale=en). No device ID; we do not store your IP address.
AI model downloads: the first time you use certain features (cutout, background removal), the app downloads a model file from dl.hijopet.com. It's a static file download — none of your data is sent, and your photos never leave the phone.
Crash reports and suggestions: only if you send them. A crash report includes app and Android version, device model, language, an anonymous breadcrumb trail (screen names, no personal data), and any comment you write. The same channel receives suggestions you voluntarily send. It never includes photos, pet names, or account data.
Community (optional): if you post or interact in the style community, the style code and short display name you choose are sent to our server — anonymous text, no photos, no accounts. This only happens when you use the community.
Abuse prevention: to prevent spam on our online features we use a non-reversible identifier derived from your network address (we do not store your IP). The rate-limit one expires in under an hour. When you like or report in the community, that same identifier is stored alongside the post to avoid counting duplicates, and it is removed when the post is removed.

3. What We Never Collect

Location data (GPS or network-based)

Browsing history or activity outside the app
Biometric data
Payment card numbers

Hijopet contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking libraries. There are no SDKs from Facebook, Google Analytics, AppsFlyer, Branch, Mixpanel, Firebase Analytics, or similar services.

4. How We Use Your Data

The data listed above is used exclusively to:

Provide and improve the Hijopet app experience.
Display your pet profiles and photos within the app.
Send birthday reminders via local device notifications (these never touch our servers).
Verify app updates and deliver them securely.
Diagnose crashes (with your consent only).

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for any commercial purpose.

The only data that leaves your device is:

If you send a crash report or a suggestion: the report described above (version, device model, language, an anonymous breadcrumb trail, your comment, and — for crashes — the error stack trace).
Update checks: only your build number and language — no device identifier.
AI model file downloads from dl.hijopet.com (a static file download; it sends none of your data).

Our infrastructure partners (Cloudflare) process only the minimum data necessary to operate the service and are bound by their own data processing agreements.

6. Permissions Explained

We do not request location access, contacts, or any other permission unrelated to core app functions.

7. Children's Privacy

Hijopet is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Users in Colombia (Ley 1581 de 2012)

You have the right to know, update, rectify, and delete your personal data (habeas data). You may exercise these rights by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond within 15 business days, as required by Article 14 of the law.

Users in the European Union / EEA (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Since the app has no accounts, we process essentially no personal data about you; the only processing (optional crash reports) relies on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Users in California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].

How to delete your data

Hijopet has no accounts: we keep no personal data of yours on our servers.
Your photos, pet profiles, and sounds live on your device; uninstalling the app removes them. Your gallery photos belong to you and are not affected.
The backup you can create in the app includes your profiles and care data (pets, records, reminders, weights), but NOT your photos or videos: those stay in your device gallery.
Crash reports (if you sent any): request deletion at [email protected].

9. Data Retention

On-device data (photos, pet profiles, sounds): retained until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Crash reports: retained for up to 30 days for debugging purposes.
Update-check data: not stored (real-time check only, no logs).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via a notice in the app. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
